When I used to work in TV, I loved producing the stories about the first New Years baby. It’s sort of amusing that average newborns around the world are celebrated simply for the time of their birth – but I could never get enough of these happy and sweet images of tiny newness on January 1st (twins born on December 31st and January 1st were a next level favourite).
Now, I feel the same way about my first newborn session of the new year. There’s something about their newness, their parents’ newness (+ fatigue + love + fear) and my January-fresh-start-goal-setting enthusiasm that mashes together into all sorts of great feelings about the shoot.
Happy New Year sweet Rosalind! I can’t to see what 2019 has in store for all of us.
PS: I also loved that grandma stopped by for a few shots. A mother watching her daughter step into the role of a mother herself, gives me all kinds of big feelings.
