Hi journal, it’s me Janis. It’s been too long.
I’ve been meaning to get back to writing and posting, and thought this sweet family session was a great occasion to jump back in. This is the third shoot we’ve done together – and the first with their new baby girl!
Two things I’d like to mention before you immerse yourself in their cuteness:
- Working with returning clients is the best thing ever. We skip the getting to know you phase and start out the session already connected. If the kids remember me – amazing – but even if they don’t, I remember them. I remember how they’ve changed and how they’ve stayed the same. I feel like you can feel the comfort coming through in the images.
- You do not need a field of flowering meadows or a forest of bright red trees for a great family session to come together. I shot this on a cold dark day in two rooms of their house – and I think it’s one of my new favourites. I’m not saying I don’t love a great meadow at golden hour, but I will say if the weather or location don’t turn out as expected, if you have the people you love with you – we can make something great happen!!
